How can CBD help with hemophilia?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention describe hemophilia as an inherited CBD increases bleeding risk and disorder in which the blood doesn’t clot as it should, leading to spontaneous bleeding.

Blood contains too many proteins known as clotting factors which help to stop bleeding.

Hemophilia A

Also known as factor VIII deficiency or classic hemophilia, is a genetic disease caused by a lack or defect of factor VIII, a clotting protein.

Hemophilia B

Also known as factor IX deficiency (FIX) or Christmas disease, is caused by a lack or defect in factor IX.

Although both types of hemophilia are passed from parent to child, about 1 in 3 cases are caused by a spontaneous mutation or a change in a gene, according to the National Hemophilia Foundation.

Spontaneous bleeding signs and symptoms include:

Many large or deep bruises

Unexplained excessive bleeding from cuts, wounds, after surgery or dental procedures and CBD increases bleeding risk

Unusual bleeding after vaccinations.

Joint pain, swelling (inflammation) or tightness

blood in the urine or stool

Nosebleeds with no known cause

Excessive bleeding can be life-threatening when it occurs in vital organs such as the brain. Therefore, it is essential to treat hemophilia before it becomes severe.

Why do some people take CBD for hemophilia symptoms

CBD may not be a recommended treatment for hemophilia but tell how CBD fights cancer. However, CBD’s purported therapeutic properties may be useful in treating some of the symptoms commonly associated with hemophilia, such as pain, swelling, nausea, vomiting, and seizures.

According to the American Federation of Hemophilia (HFA), joint disease is the most common complication of hemophilia.

People with hemophilia can bleed into the joint space after an injury or sometimes for no apparent reason. The blood pressure that fills the joint cavity causes significant pain and can lead to chronic inflammation and deformity.

CBD can help treat different types of chronic pain. Therefore, CBD can provide much needed pain relief when treating joint problems.

Meanwhile, the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD have been demonstrated in several human and animal studies, such as a 2014 study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation and a 2012 study by authors from the Department of Pathology at the School of Medicine. A veterinarian from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Furthermore, a study published in the Free Radical Biology & Medicine Journal by George Booz of the University of Mississippi Medical Center showed that CBD, which can interact with the endocannabinoid system.

People with hemophilia may have bleeding in and around the brain, either after an injury or without a known cause. Cranial hemorrhages can cause permanent brain damage or even death.

Signs of a head bleed include:

  • Headaches that last or get worse over time
  • Difficulty paying attention
  • Wanting to sleep
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Lethargy (difficulty waking up or staying awake)
  • Sudden and violent vomiting
  • Electric shock.
  • CBD can help alleviate some of these symptoms.

A 2011 study published in the British Journal of Pharmacology revealed the antiemetic effects of cannabinoids in response to toxic provocation. Cannabidiol (CBD), the main non-psychoactive compound in cannabis, has been shown to suppress nausea and vomiting over a limited dose range.

CBD can also help reduce muscle spasms, a hallmark of neuropathic damage that often manifests as painful, uncontrolled muscle contractions.

However, the most important scientific evidence refers to the efficacy of CBD in the treatment of certain epileptic syndromes such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which generally do not respond to antiepileptic drugs.

Epidiolex, which contains CBD, was the first drug approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for these conditions.

conclusion

Cannabidiol (CBD) is definitely not a substitute for traditional hemophilia treatment. However, the therapeutic health benefits of CBD can help relieve some of the symptoms associated with hemophilia, such as nausea, vomiting, pain, swelling, and seizures.

However, it is important to consult a physician experienced in the use of cannabis before using CBD to treat any symptoms or conditions, or as an adjunct therapy.
