Is CBD good for your heartbeat?

Is CBD good for your heartbeat? Studies show that cannabidiol can help improve heart health by regulating heart rate. Heart rate is controlled by suppressing arrhythmias caused by insufficient blood supply to the heart.

Arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm) includes irregular heartbeats caused by faulty electrical signals. In this condition, the heart may beat irregularly, too quickly or too slowly. Studies have shown how CBD can help improve heart health, through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

However, it is unclear whether CBD consistently increases or decreases heart rate in certain situations. Further research is needed to produce conclusive results. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a term generally used for conditions that affect the heart or blood vessels. Heart disease includes heart infections, coronary heart disease (CHD), arrhythmias, congenital heart defects, and arrhythmias.

An irregular heartbeat can cause tachycardia, in which the heart rate exceeds 100 beats per minute. The standard resting heart rate range for an adult is 60 to 100 beats per minute.

The following can make your heart beat faster:

  • high or low blood pressure
  • Excessive amounts of alcohol or caffeinated beverages
  • High cholesterol
  • Stimulants (cocaine or methamphetamine)
  • To smoke
  • electrolyte imbalances
  • medication side effects
  • Studies show that cannabidiol can help suppress arrhythmias caused by ischemia.

Ischemia occurs when blood flow in the body is restricted. Cardiac ischemia is the reduced flow of blood and oxygen to the heart muscle. The anti-apoptotic (preventing cell death), anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of CBD may promote myocardial ischemia and reperfusion.

Myocardial ischemia and reperfusion caused by tissue damage are the leading causes of death in patients with cardiovascular disease. The British Journal of Pharmacology published a study suggesting that CBD may help suppress irregular heartbeats caused by ischemia-induced arrhythmias.

Another study in mice found that cannabidiol can help stabilize irregular heartbeats. This discovery was one of the animal studies due to the effects of CBD on blood circulation. The results of animal studies may be useful in further human studies on the use of CBD good for your heartbeat.

How CBD Helps With Heart Disease Symptoms

After entering the body, CBD interacts with your endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS helps maintain the balance of bodily functions, including those of the immune, cardiovascular, and central nervous systems.

Endocannabinoids bind to cannabinoid receptors throughout the human body and send signals for specific actions. CBD is a phytocannabinoid (plant-derived cannabinoid) that binds to receptors once the chemical has been received by the body.

Studies suggest that CBD good for your heartbeat and has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving properties that can help reduce symptoms of heart disease.

The effects of CBD on heart rate

A 2017 study by Hermant Goval found the presence of endocannabinoids in heart tissue. The ECS can also be linked to the regulation of heart rate.

Therefore, CBD good for your heartbeat and can help normalize heart rhythms due to its interaction with the ECS.

CBD versus stressful and non-stressful conditions

A 2009 study showed that CBD could help lower blood pressure in stressed rats. The test animals in the study experienced stressful conditions, including increases in heart rate and blood pressure. Both factors decreased after the animals received a single dose of CBD.

Another study included a clinical trial published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation that showed that CBD can help lower blood pressure in healthy men. However, the subjects’ heart rate increased compared to the placebo group.

A 2011 study gave participants either a high dose of CBD or a placebo before a public lecture. The researchers reported that the CBD group had lower heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety levels. The mixed results of CBD use in stressful and non-stressful situations may be related to autonomic arousal or the fight or flight response. Research shows that CBD can act as a pain reliever.

However, researchers disagree that the beneficial effects of cannabidiol include a lower heart rate under non-stressful conditions. More research is needed to determine if the use of CBD in humans can produce similar results.

CBD and THC: different cannabinoids with different effects

Both CBD and THC are derived from cannabis plants. However, the two cannabinoids may produce opposite effects in terms of acute cardiovascular function.

CBD is an abundant non-psychoactive component in hemp and therefore does not produce mind-altering effects like tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Studies show that CBD can lower the heart rate. Meanwhile, studies like a randomized crossover trial show that THC can increase heart rate and blood pressure.

The different effects of THC and CBD on the central nervous system (CNS) are related to their different properties. According to a 2014 study on the effects of cannabis, published in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry, the use of high-THC cannabis may be associated with psychosis.

Although anxiety is one of the psychotic symptoms of marijuana use, researchers have investigated the possible method of CBD to reduce the symptoms of anxiety disorders. CBD can also provide therapeutic benefits when combined with THC. A 2019 study in the Journal of Neuroscience found that CBD appeared to block the psychiatric side effects of THC.

The CBD Heart Rate Experiment

Various types of heart rates are measured when the effects of CBD on the heart rates of subjects are experienced. The following informal experiments examine the effects of CBD products under different conditions.

The heart rate increases or decreases in certain situations, e.g. B. after training and decreases in other situations, e.g. B. at rest. Due to heart rate fluctuations, it is best to test over several days and on average.

Test 1: resting heart rate

This test is the easiest to perform. This measures a person’s heart rate at rest. Once the test subject has taken a dose of CBD oil, their heart rate is compared to the original readings.

Test 2: heart rate during exercise

This type of heart rate measurement requires a person to measure heart rate after physical activity, such as running. B. after walking on a treadmill.

Heart rate is measured after training. It is measured again after taking CBD and repeating the training session.

Test 3: heart rate after the sauna

Bathing in the sauna can lead to high blood pressure and increased heart rate. This test examines whether CBD returns your heart rate to normal faster after a sauna session.

Does CBD Interact With Heart Medications?

CBD is generally safe. However, the compound can cause side effects, including nausea, drowsiness, diarrhoea, and dry mouth. Combining CBD with medications that have similar side effects can increase the risk of adverse symptoms or toxicity.

Potential drug interactions with CBD good for your heartbeat include the anticoagulant warfarin and amiodarone, a heart rhythm medication. Meanwhile, taking CBD with some heartburn medications (like Prilosec) may increase your risk of diarrhea.

People taking prescription medication for heart problems should consult their doctor before taking CBD. Risks of heart disease include heart attack, heart failure, stroke, cardiac arrest, and aneurysms. Treatments include prescription drugs and surgery. Medications available to treat heart disease include angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, beta-blockers, diuretics (diuretics), and channel blockers.

A 2013 study looked at the use of prescription drugs for the long-term treatment of coronary artery disease. The drugs have shown positive effects, reducing the risk of complications and alleviating the symptoms of cardiomyopathy. Cardiomyopathy occurs when the heart cannot pump blood effectively around the body.

The same study also showed that several drugs for coronary artery disease have risk factors and can cause side effects, including bruising, dizziness, and fatigue. People should consult their doctor before using CBD products for heart problems.

How to use CBD oil for heart rate

Forms of CBD include oils, tinctures, capsules, creams, and gummies. Taking CBD sublingually under the tongue makes it easier to ingest.

Vaping offers faster bioavailability than other forms of CBD, such as vaping. B. topical and edible products. Bioavailability refers to the rate and extent to which the active ingredient in a drug is absorbed and becomes available. A single dose of cannabidiol via vaporization can carry risks comparable to those of smoking.
