There are 3 different types of CBD you should be aware of.

When talking about CBD, it’s important to talk about the different types of CBD. There is no one size fits all. There are many factors to consider when purchasing CBD, for example, do I need something with no trace of THC?

Or I can take something with a small amount of THC and get effective treatments for my ailments.

Everything depends!

To help you get started, we talk about 3 different types of CBD you need to know:

Know about it

full spectrum

broad spectrum

But before we get started, it’s important to understand the difference between the most popular cannabinoids, CBD and THC.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

There are many naturally occurring compounds in the cannabis plant. We’re talking about 483 different things. But trying to overcome them will take forever and frankly, it’s not worth paying attention to all of them when we learn about cannabis plants.

However, it helps to categorize these compounds to understand CBD oil on a larger scale.

Among the five main groups of compounds in the cannabis plant…

cannabinoids

flavonoids

terpenes

essential oils

Omega fatty acids

For now, we will focus on cannabinoids. There are about 65 known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. CBD and THC together are two of the most popular cannabinoids. While they are similar in this regard, they are also different in very large respects.

Tetrahydrocannabinol

THC is the psychoactive compound in the marijuana plant. Simply put, THC is what gets people high. THC is also found in cannabis plants, but cannabis plants contain no more than 0.3% THC, which isn’t enough to get someone going high.

THC often causes people to feel a shock in their body, and when that effect wears off, you’ll feel as light as a feather while being incredibly relaxed. THC also makes people process the world around them a little slower than normal, which may be fun for some.

However, if you have a history of anxiety or simply dislike being in touch with reality, THC may not be the cup of tea for you.

Cannabidiol

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound derived from the cannabis plant. It just won’t lift you.

If you’ve been researching CBD, you probably know that there are 3 different types of CBD.

Difference

Full spectrum

Broad spectrum

What is the difference between these 3 types of CBD you ask? Let’s continue!

How CBD is different

CBD isolate is the pure form of cannabidiol. Make a CBD isolate, and goes through an extraction process after the initial extraction.

Therefore, the isolate is approximately 99% cannabidiol and many other plant compounds have been removed. Imagine no terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids… just CBD.

Full spectrum CBD

Compared to CBD isolate, full-spectrum CBD oil is on the opposite side of the spectrum.

Full-spectrum CBD contains all the other naturally occurring plant compounds (we’re talking about CBD, flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils, and omega fatty acids). But fear not… The THC concentration will not exceed the maximum THC concentration of 0.3%, which is the legal limit in the United States.

Broad spectrum CBD

It is the middle ground between CBD isolates classified as broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD. Broad spectrum CBD is the same as all CBD except that the broad spectrum cannabidiol has removed all traces of THC.

The best form of CBD for you

Choosing the right CBD oil for you is a personal decision, but it is difficult to decide if you do not understand the effects of different types of CBD! Full-spectrum CBD would be more effective due to something known as the “conjugation effect.”

This scenario describes how cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils and omega fatty acids combine to increase the positive effects of CBD. In short, non-CBD compounds bind to receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Of course! Both humans and mammals have an internal system for processing CBD. The responsibility of the endocannabinoid system is to maintain health and balance in our bodies. Much like our nervous system and immune system, but instead of cannabinoids!

Some people are very adamant about not taking CBD-containing THC, and that’s fine! If you fall into this category, we recommend starting with CBD isolate. If you find that one type of CBD is not producing noticeable results, consider giving it a broader spectrum.
